From an early age, children begin to explore and learn from their surroundings.  These early years set the stage for lifetime learning, emotional well-being, and social skills. Developmental delays and disabilities may impact a child’s learning abilities, behaviors, and social emotional development. Early identification and intervention provides the foundation for the lifetime ability to successfully learn and develop close, secure relationships with peers and caring adults in order for them to reach their full potential.

The Disabilities and Mental Health program serves children with special needs and their families in an inclusive environment.  The Disabilities Mental Health service area ensures that children, families, and staff are supported through on-going professional development, classroom observation, individual family services plans, individual education plans, and social emotional plans.

Modifying lessons, recommending evidence-based strategies, speech therapy, and coordinating services between school districts and ECI, are among many of the service provided when your child with a special need is enrolled in the program.
